SUMMARY:Brush Bot Races!
DESCRIPTION:Build tiny robots\, powered by vibrating motors\, made from scrub brushes and toothbrush heads. Test them on the obstacle course track and tune them up for performance. Then race against everyone’s best brushbots for the championship! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrushbots or bristlebots have been around for at least 25 years\, descended from wind-up vibrobots that used a clockwork mechanism. They can be as simple as a motor\, a brush\, and a power source\, or they can be carefully tuned\, tweaked\, and decorated for speed and personality. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaterials are included\, and pizza will be provided for lunch. Attendees will get to bring home their creations\, and prizes will be awarded for design and performance! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrushbot Races are great for kids from elementary school through middle school. \n\n\n\nAges 6+. Under 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (parent/guardian attendance is free with a paid participant ticket).

Come meet makerspace members\, show off a project\, get some help with a tough challenge\, or bounce ideas off of like-minded makers. \n\n\n\n(Light refreshments will be served.)

SUMMARY:Intermediate 3D Printing (1/8/2026)
DESCRIPTION:Intermediate course covering more advanced 3D modeling software and configuration for 3D printing (FDM/extrusion) equipment at Mill Forge Makerspace. This class will cover more advanced modeling\, printing performance\, multicolor techniques\, and use of 3D printers\, slicer and printer management software\, and more powerful 3D modeling tools than covered in the intro classes. Anticipated coverage will include: \n\n\n\n\n3D modeling in TinkerCAD (some instructors may use Autodesk Fusion\, OnShape\, or SolidWorks as well)\n\n\n\nSpecific techniques for different 3D Printing Filament Types\n\n\n\nRemixing models in Bambu Studio software\n\n\n\nUsing parametric models\n\n\n\nMulticolor and multi-material printing\, with and without an automatic material system (AMS)\n\n\n\n\nAttendees will be able to print and take home small models. Some models may print overnight and be available to pick up later. \n\n\n\nAppropriate attire required: \n\n\n\n\nClosed-toe shoes\n\n\n\nNo loose clothing\, jewelry\, or accessories\n\n\n\nLong hair tied back/up or securely covered (e.g.\, under a well-fitting hat)\n\n\n\n\nAttendees should bring a laptop computer if they are able. A limited number of computers are available for attendees who cannot bring one. The software for the class is supported on Mac and Windows\, and Linux. NOTE: Tablets (e.g.\, iPads) are not able to run all of the necessary software.
