Intermediate course covering more advanced 3D modeling software and configuration for 3D printing (FDM/extrusion) equipment at Mill Forge Makerspace. This class will cover basic more advanced modeling, printing performance, multicolor techniques, and use of 3D printers, slicer and printer management software, and more powerful 3D modeling tools than covered in the intro classes. Anticipated coverage will include:
- 3D modeling in Autodesk Fusion (some instructors may use OnShape or SolidWorks as well)
- Specific techniques for different 3D Printing Filament Types
- Remixing models in Bambu Studio software
- Using parametric models
- Multicolor and multi-material printing, with and without an automatic material system (AMS)
Attendees will be able to print and take home small models. Some models may print overnight and be available to pick up later.
Appropriate attire required:
- Closed-toe shoes
- No loose clothing, jewelry, or accessories
- Long hair tied back/up or securely covered (e.g., under a well-fitting hat)
Attendees should bring a laptop computer if they are able. A limited number of computers are available for attendees who cannot bring one. The software for the class is supported on Mac and Windows, and Linux. Tablets (e.g., iPads) are not able to run all of the necessary software.
