Intermediate course covering more advanced knowledge pertaining to the resin 3d printers at Mill Forge Makerspace. This class will cover basic care for the resin printer, troubleshooting when a print fails, and techniques on how to improve success on larger and more complex models.
Anticipated coverage will include:
- Types of print failures
- Calibration of the printer
- How to clean printer
- Advanced techniques for preparing models
Attendees will be able to print and take home a small model. Due to the time required to print, attendees will be able to retrieve their printed model the next day.
Appropriate attire required:
- Closed-toe shoes
- No loose clothing, jewelry, or accessories
- Long hair tied back/up or securely covered (e.g., under a well-fitting hat)\
- Full seal eye protection (goggles or face shield)
- Half mask respirator, face shield respirator, or PAPR hood with organic vapor cartridges
Attendees should bring a laptop computer if they are able. A limited number of computers are available for attendees who cannot bring one. The software for the class is supported on Mac and Windows, and Linux. NOTE: Tablets (e.g., iPads) are not able to run all of the necessary software.
WARNING: In this class we will be working with chemicals that can cause serious harm such as photo polymer resin and 99% isopropyl alcohol. If you know of any allergies and or reactions caused by either of these chemicals or specific concerns about working with them, please let us know in advance.
