Introductory course on basic safety and operation of resin 3D printing equipment at Mill Forge Makerspace. Resin printing offers a number of advantages over the more common filament (FDM) 3D printers but presents its own quirks and challenges! This class will cover basic safety and operation of resin 3D printer, slicer and printer management software.

Anticipated coverage will include:
- Proper personal protective equipment
- Operation of the resin 3D printer
- Basic skills for preparation of 3D models for printing
- How to do post processing on a resin 3D print
Attendees will be able to print and take home a small model. Due to the time required to print, attendees will be able to retrieve their printed model the next day.
Appropriate attire required:
- Closed-toe shoes
- No loose clothing, jewelry, or accessories
- Long hair tied back/up or securely covered (e.g., under a well-fitting hat)
- Full seal eye protection (goggles or face shield)
- Half mask respirator, face shield respirator, or PAPR hood with organic vapor cartridges (PPE will be provided, but we ask you to supply your own if you have it)
Attendees should bring a laptop computer if they are able. A limited number of computers are available for attendees who cannot bring one. The software for the class is supported on Mac and Windows, and Linux. NOTE: Tablets (e.g., iPads) are not able to run all of the necessary software.
WARNING: In this class we will be working with chemicals that can cause serious harm such as photo polymer resin and 99% isopropyl alcohol. If you know of any allergies and or reactions caused by either of these chemicals or specific concerns about working with them, please let us know in advance.
