Intro to Woodworking (March 3 2026)

UPDATE: This class has been postponed from Wednesday, February 25th to Tuesday, March 3 due to challenges with post-storm cleanup. Prior signups will be honored on the new date!

Introductory course on basic safety and operation of woodworking equipment at Mill Forge Makerspace. This class will cover all operational stationary power equipment in the woodworking area, and will provide certification for solo use by Mill Forge Makerspace members. Anticipated coverage will include:

  • Table Saw
  • Drill Press
  • Jointer
  • Bandsaw (resaw & figural cutting)
  • Sanders (belt, disc, & spindle)
  • Planer
  • Miter Saw
a half-inch-thick pine pushstick, roughly peanut-shaped, with the Mill Forge Makerspace honeycomb logo and name laser-etched into it sits on the steel surface of a table saw.

Attendees will build and take home a pine push tool for power tools and, time permitting, will laser engrave it at the end of class.

Appropriate attire required:

  • Long pants
  • Closed-toe shoes (safety or steel toe recommended but optional)
  • No loose clothing, jewelry, or accessories
  • Eye protection (safety glasses will be provided if needed)
  • Long hair tied back/up or securely covered (e.g., under a well-fitting hat)
