Learn how to turn rough milled lumber into boards ready for creating fine furniture.  You will learn how to use the jointer and planer to surface all four sides of a board – A skill valuable for preparing rough lumber, reclaimed timber, antique boards, or a freshly felled tree!

You will learn

  • Why to mill lumber rather than buying it at the big box store
  • Why a 1 x 4 is not 1 inch x 4 inches
  • How to identify and deal with warpage, twists, curves, bows, cracks, knots and other defects
  • How to use a powered jointer and planner and alterate methods using a router or table saw.
Several reclaimed timbers that have been milled on four sides.

Note: This class has a minimum age of 15.
