Learn Microprocessors: Adafruit Circuit Playground & Circuit Python

Microprocessors are in everything! Air conditioners, WiFi speakers, cars, robots, and almost every modern conveniences run on these versatile little chips: A schematic diagram of an ATTINY microprocessor with color coded labels for all the input and output pins. From the beginner-friendly Arduino, to the flexible Adafruit Feather, to the tiny ATTiny and ESP32, microcontrollers allow you to use a scripting or a programming language like python or C++ to quickly build tools that handle different inputs and control things like LEDs, motors, or relays for lights or tools. A round circuit board with castellated holes all around it and a set of LEDs blinking in different colors along the edge. In this class you’ll start with an Adafruit Circuit Playground, a controller built for prototyping, clothing & cosplay. You’ll brush up on basic soldering, attach some components for inputs & outputs, learn the basics of what makes a microcontroller so versatile & how it works, and then program it using a simplified Python scripting tool.
