Spindle Turning Pens, Peppermills, Rolling Pins, & More

Join our “Turning Pens, Peppermills, and Other Spindle Turning Projects” workshop to refine your spindle turning techniques. This class caters to both novice and seasoned woodworkers aiming to advance their turning skills. Participants will learn to create exquisite and practical items such as pens, peppermills, and other spindle projects using a lathe. Several simdle-turned pieces on a fabric backdrop, including candlesticks, a rolling pin, and a bottle stopper. What You’ll Learn:
  • Introduction to Spindle Turning: Gain fundamental knowledge of spindle turning and lathe operation.
  • Wood Selection: Acquire skills in selecting appropriate wood for your spindle turning projects.
  • Turning Techniques: Develop expertise in precisely and creatively turning pens, peppermills, and other spindle projects.
  • Finishing: Learn methods to finish your turned items, enhancing their aesthetic appeal and durability.
Materials & Tools
  • This utilizes wood from local trees. A variety of chisels and gauges are provided.
  • Reclaimed wood used in this class.
Safety & PPE
  • Respect the shop rules and safety guidelines before using any tools or equipment.
  • N95 masks, safety glasses, and gloves are provided.
  • Wear something you don’t mind getting dirty. The glues, paints, and stains we use can permanently stain clothes
Class Size
  • The maximum class size to allow for highly personalized instruction and attention is four (4) people. Let us know if you would like a larger size and we can add an assistant to help out.
  • Note: This class has a minimum age of 15.
