Whether you are a novice or seeking a refresher course in turning, this basic bowl turning class offers a delightful and fulfilling way to discover the simple joys of woodturning. Unlike many woodworking projects that may take days or even weeks to finish, turned wooden bowls can be crafted within a few hours. You will learn how to turn a 4′ – 6″ wide / 2′ – 3″ deep bowl focusing on tool selection, sharpening techniques for gouges, finishing options, and safe operation of the lathe. This class is also available for experienced turners, where we delve deeper into advanced topics such as the “fingernail grind,” hollowing techniques, and other of interest you wish to explore. Materials & Tools

• We provide a set of bowl blanks ready for turning as well as a suite of gouges and other tools and safety equipment.

Safety & PPE

• Respect the shop rules and safety guidelines before using any tools or equipment.
• N95 masks, safety glasses, & gloves are provided.
• Be sure to tie up or back long hair.
• Wear something you don’t mind getting dirty. The glues, paints, and stains we use can permanently stain clothes.

Note: This class requires a minimum age of 15. Individuals under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
