What It Does
The MDX-50 uses subtractive manufacturing: it removes material from a block to produce a part. Unlike 3D printers, which add layers of plastic, the MDX-50 mills away stock material with rotating cutting tools.
The MDX-50 at Mill Forge has an aftermarket status light tower on top. If the light is green, the mill is ready and stopped. A yellow light indicates that the mill is operating (spinning, moving, or both), and a red light indicates an error condition.
Training Requirements
While there is no certification currently required for the mill, it is strongly recommended that users familiarize themselves with the mill manuals and software tool VPanel and at least one CAD/CAM tool such as DeskProto (basic) or Vectric (advanced).
