Member Business Profile – Thumbprint Vintage
Welcome to the first in a series of profiles of Mill Forge Makerspace members’ small businesses!
Myles Qualter of Thumbprint Vintage began as an active denizen of the Mill Forge textile area, working with vintage clothing and jewelry. As his business grew, so did Thumbprint’s inventory and the number of works in progress. As the sheer volume of material became larger and the winter weather settled in, it became clear to Myles that Thumbprint had become large enough to warrant a work bay.

Myles has built out one of the most customized bays in the makerspace, reflecting the variety of clothing, fabric, upcycled jewelry, and decorative objects he curates for discerning customers. His customized lighting and growing organizational wall are a wonderful part of the eclectic fabric of the Mill Forge workshop itself. Never satisfied with just one new skill, Myles has taken up 3D printing, and built out a huge number of Ikea SKADIS-compatible organizers, display stands, and tools for his craft including stamps and molds.

Myles says that beyond just providing the space and tools to support his artistic endeavors and business, it’s been “great to see the community that Mill Forge is building here.” He finds that the variety of fellow makers “looking to help out, provide advice, and lend a hand” makes it easy and enjoyable to pick up new skills, media, and techniques as his projects expand.
Thumbprint Vintage restores, alters, and sells vintage clothing and upcycled textiles & jewelry at popup shops all over New England, and on Depop, eBay & ThreadUp, with a new digital storefront under development for visual art & sculpture.
