Make a Charcuterie Board!

Join our beginner-friendly woodworking class where you’ll learn to design and build your very own hardwood cutting board. Charcuterie board made with end grain in sharply contrasting dark and light figural woods. Here’s what awaits you:
  1. Introduction to Wood Selection: We’ll explore different wood types suitable for cutting boards. From maple to walnut, discover their unique grains and characteristics.
  2. Hands-On Construction: Our experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step through the process. Learn how to:
    • Measure and cut wood pieces
    • Edge and glue them in a straight grain pattern
    • Sand and finish your cutting board for a smooth surface
  3. Finishing Touches: Discover food-safe finishes and oils to protect your cutting board and enhance its natural beauty.
By the end of the class, you’ll take home a functional and personalized charcuterie board—a testament to your newfound woodworking skills. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience, this class is perfect for unleashing your creativity!
Materials & Tools:
  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: This class uses a variety of reclaimed lumber that we are redirecting from the dump or burn pile. This may include Brazilian cherry hard wood flooring; pine, oak, poplar, cherry, or maple from pallets; boards made from tress from around the neighborhood, and other woods from old furniture.
Safety & PPE
  • Respect the shop rules and safety guidelines before using any tools or equipment.
  • N95 masks, safety glasses, & gloves are provided.
  • Be sure to tie up or back long hair.
  • Wear something you don’t mind getting dirty. The glues, paints, and stains we use can permanently stain clothes.
Note: This class has a minimum age of 15.  All those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
