Longarm quilting machines make it much easier to perform the final work of assembling a quilt or matelassé. After piecing – the stitching of the individual colored pieces that make up the quilt design – a quilt is sewn together with a batting for loft and a backing fabric. By hand or with a traditional sewing machine this process is difficult and time-consuming, but with a longarm, the full width of up to 12 feet can be worked easily!
