Longarm quilting machines make it much easier to perform the final work of assembling a quilt or matelassé. After piecing – the stitching of the individual colored pieces that make up the quilt design – a quilt is sewn together with a batting for loft and a backing fabric. By hand or with a traditional sewing machine this process is difficult and time-consuming, but with a longarm, the full width of up to 12 feet can be worked easily!

Quilting can also be used to assemble large appliques, matelassé bedspreads, or textures for period cosumes or cosplay parts!
